**Preschool Alternative: 2 day Program at Wonder Studio!!!**
Why should I do the 2 day program at Wonder Studio?
Follow the lead of your child is one of the first
things you will learn at Wonder Studio.
This means different things for different
children.
Some children need to play for a moment at each
experience and they move on rather quickly.
While… others might spend the entire class at one
experience.
Regardless of your child’s learning style, enrolling
your child at Wonder Studio 2x a week instead of once a week gives him/her the
following benefits:

Sets a routine and rhythm to your days and weeks.

The 2nd day offers opportunity to delve
deeper into the Arts/Science experiences.
·
Invites the child to explore those experiences
they might not have gotten to the first day.
·
Extended opportunities to problem solve and socialize
with the other children.
·
Strengthens the relationship between the teacher
and the child. Coming 2x a week helps to forge that teacher/student
relationship more quickly.
·
Repeated exposure to the same Wonder Studio
experiences helps your child know what to expect and therefore begin to
understand making a plan and setting goals.

What do
the Moms say?
In my search for summer
activities, Shannon informed me she would be doing Wonder Studio throughout the
summer. I decided to enroll my 2 children on both days through the 6 weeks
since we had enjoyed WS so much during the school year. Being there 2 days a week
has been great! My children generally spend the first day exploring all the
centers, honing in on one or two activities, but the second day is really
interesting to watch. They tend to stick together on Mondays, but Tuesdays they
seem to separate and explore more on their own. I feel this separation is
because they each had the opportunity to visit the different stations the
previous day, and being individuals, they want to do what they each enjoyed the
most the day before. I have found that they figure things out on Mondays and
really get into the activity on Tuesdays, taking what they learned the day
before and expanding on their findings. Sometimes they discover new things they
hadn’t noticed or learned the day before. Sometimes they see a new friend doing
something they hadn’t seen the day before or thought of themselves. I feel
their exploration and learning is much deeper and meaningful on Tuesdays. It’s
been an interesting little experiment of my own; watching, observing, learning!
I would highly recommend doing two days if it is possible.

We love Wonder
Studio-- Maggie, Abigail, and I all really enjoy it, and I think it's good for
us. The activities themselves, of course, are great (more on that below),
and the whole environment that you've created for the kids (and parents) is
welcoming and positive-- ideal not only for learning about arts and science but
for learning how to be. I feel like it's a good place for Maggie to see
examples of good behavior-- everyone (teacher, children, parents, other
caregivers, etc.) treating each other kindly, with respect and patience, and
participating in a community (learning the routine, the rules, helping to clean
up, etc.)
In any given session,
there are so many different experiences, and I felt like Maggie could easily
come to Wonder Studio twice per week and still not try them all. She
spent her first two sessions exclusively playing with shaving cream, and even
after she decided to branch out to explore other areas, she would still spend
long chunks of time in one spot, so I felt like giving her another day would
allow her to experience a greater variety of activities without trying to
change her pace. I wanted her to spend as little or as much time with
each experience as she wanted to.

Logan just has fun. I like
that I am able to bring him twice a week. I think all the different experiences
and time with his peers is irreplaceable.
