Big Takeaways of the week:
Quiet Observation time...WOW! It is certainly a challenge for all of us (me, especially!) to mindfully silence ourselves and observe the children.
1. I could hear the children so much more clearly when the adults in the room are quiet.
2. The children could HEAR each other.
Hearing each other seemed to cause some of the children to initiate play with the other kids more frequently.
3. Self-Speech or a child's version of "Thinking out loud" was much more evident and also seemed to happen with more frequency.
Talking to themselves with intelligible language and also unintelligible language is an important phase of development for young children, I was extremely pleased to witness the increase.
What were your take-aways of this week's "Wonders"? Would love to hear!!
